Strategy and teamwork to decipher the puzzles and give the answer in the form of highly creative photographs!

The Enigmatic Regatta was born from the Photo-Regatta and intends to offer a more playful and dynamic experience compared to the Photo-Regatta. This was a fun activity that can be done in less time (2 hours) and creates a team building dynamic that values the excellent attributes of a race but that mitigates its limitations:

A great dependence on optimum wind conditions.
A great disparity between the teams when some team includes crew with sailing experience.
Too much focus on the sailing competition when the aim of the majority of the group is leisure, to spend a good time and learn the basics of sailing.
Difficulty in maintaining the competitive and team-building spirit of all teams throughout the activity (the classification is almost intact after only 30 minutes after the start).
Difficulty in keeping all people enthusiastic throughout the activity (there are always those who want to participate more in the maneuvers and be the skipper and those who just want to enjoy the ride and take pictures).

STRUCTURE OF THE ENIGMATIC REGATTA

Briefing: Welcome to the group, an explanation of the rules of the Enigmatic-Sailing and a safety briefing.
Sailing Baptism: Training of the main maneuvers and an introduction of the basic sailing terms. If there is little wind, there is no training period.

Definition of the best strategy: “Is it better to invest 30 minutes in discovering the answers to all the puzzles and only then define the better path? Or do we start going directly to the points that are important to us while discovering the answers to the puzzles, saving time?”
Start: it can be done with the auxiliary motor so that all the teams depart in equality.
Award ceremony

Lisbon Suggested Program (2 hours version):

11h00 – Meeting point at the base dock (Alcântara or Belém).
Briefing on land about rules, goals and safety.
Each team is handed the set of 6 to 8 puzzles.

11:15 am – Boarding the sailboats, preparing the sails and quick definition of the strategy.
A Sport Snack is provided to each participant.

11:30 am – Start of the Enigmatic Regatta.
There is no specific order for the route but the sailing area is limited by Terreiro do Paço and Belém.
Only the start and the arrival are obligatory. On days without wind it is allowed to use the motor to assist.

12:30 am/12:45 am – Mandatory arrival at the finish line

01:00 pm – Landing of all participants and evaluation of the answers to the puzzles (photographs) which will reveal the winning team!

Important Enigmatic Regatta Rules:

Is given to each team a set of 6 to 12 puzzles. These puzzles are in flag code (for foreigners) whose answers will be given through photographs. They can be of monuments, points of interest visible or even of objects of the boat (candles, windmills, cables, etc).
The goal is to hit as many puzzles as possible and take the closest pictures (with the iPad available).
There is no specific order for the course, only the start and finish are mandatory. Each team, with the help of the skipper, defines the best strategy during sailing class.
The staff will evaluate the photos of each team and assign a score of 1 to 3 for each photograph, by the level of proximity. Each team can only submit one photo per puzzle to be evaluated.
You win the team with the highest score and you have reached the goal within the mandatory interval.

Booking Conditions:

Any reservation is subject to the availability of the desired sailboats. For this reason, it is recommended to reserve the date and sailboats in advance.
